Italian courses for Japanese learners

Italian courses for Japanese learners

Our school dedicates a series of language programmes to all Japanese students, aimed at satisfying all their particular needs in the acquisition of the Italian language.

Our Italian courses  in Rome for Japanese people start from a basic level (Pre-A1), and are designed specifically for Japanese learners who approach the study of Italian for the first time.

During the introductory phase, the structure of the alphabet and phonetics are largely clarified, providing the base needed to continue onto the later stages of the study programme which are divided into six standard levels of ability (from A1 to C2).

If necessary, the Italian mother tongue teachers are supported when teaching by Japanese mother tongue language assistants. Furthermore, as CELI Test Center, recognised by the University for Foreigners of Perugia, and PLIDA Test Center, recognised by the Società Dante Alighieri, we prepare our Japanese students for the CELI exam or PLIDA for the attainment of the relative certification of knowledge of the Italian language. This is useful in order to study or work in a variety of fields of interest, or satisfy University requirements.

In addition to the development of linguistic skills, aimed at reaching the highest level of communicative efficiency, our Italian courses for Japanese people offer insights into all the sociocultural characteristics of our country.

LINGUISTIC PROGRAM

Course Pre-A1
Presentation of the Latin alphabet and introduction to Italian phonetics through the ability to understand and distinguish phonemes. Particular attention is dedicated to the production of sounds which are the most challenging for Japanese learners, such as those which cannot be reproduced using the katakana code.

Course A1
Presentation of basic lexis and of the first verb tenses with an introduction to the inflectional morphology of the Italian language. A wide space is therefore dedicated to the pronominal system and to articles (taking into account the agglutinative nature of the Japanese linguistic system). From a communicative point of view, the production of basic functions such as presenting oneself, presenting others and providing personal information, are developed.

Course A2
Development of the ability to produce simple written texts, with particular attention paid to the most sensitive discriminating factors for learners of Japanese origin, who use ideograms or syllabic alphabets (the use of spaces between words, upper and lower case, cursive and block letters.) Broadening of basic lexis and the use of connectives through the development of the ability to understand short texts and through oral production of information about familiar topics.

Course B1
Introduction to advanced grammatical rules with specific activities dedicated to strengthening the elements which are not present in the Japanese linguistic system (for example subordinating conjunctions and relative pronouns) and which are therefore more difficult to acquire. Overview of non-verbal Italian language.  In a communicative environment, the development of comprehension and oral production on daily topics and those of interest.

Course B2
Expansion of basic vocabulary with the development of comprehension and production of even sectoral and micro-linguistic lexis. Development of the ability to understand complex texts and fluent speaking and writing skills.

Course C1
Comprehension of long and complex texts, including the implicit or ironic sense of the texts. Mastery of mechanisms of cohesion in oral production of professional and academic topics.

Course C2
Comprehension and both oral and written production of any kind of information. Ability to manipulate texts and receptive of the meaning of even the most subtle nuances.

In addition to the standard study programmes, our courses are supplemented by events and tours of Rome, in which various aspects of local life and Italian customs are presented, making the learning programmes more complete and effective.
